Tissue Repair & Recovery Peptides
These six compounds are grouped by marketing theme — "heal faster, recover from injury, fix your gut" — but their mechanisms are unrelated. Almost everything sold as a "healing peptide" rests on rodent and cell-culture data. For five of the six compounds, there is no completed, adequately powered, placebo-controlled human trial demonstrating the benefit being marketed.

Compounds Covered (6)
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157)
A synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from human gastric juice. The most extensively studied repair peptide in animal models with 500+ preclinical papers, but almost no human data.
TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 Fragment)
A synthetic heptapeptide fragment of thymosin β4 (Tβ4). Human data exists only for the full-length parent protein — the fragment sold as TB-500 has zero controlled human trials.
AOD-9604 (hGH Fragment Analog)
A 16-amino-acid hGH fragment analog that failed its pivotal weight-loss trial. Included in "recovery" stacks despite being a fat-loss peptide with proven negative efficacy.
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val)
A tripeptide fragment of α-MSH with an elegant anti-inflammatory mechanism targeting inflamed gut tissue via PepT1. Entirely preclinical — no human efficacy trials exist.
GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1, Injectable)
A naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide with excellent topical evidence but ZERO human trials for the injectable form. The injectable is an evidence-free extension of a topical cosmetic.
Larazotide Acetate (AT-1001)
The ONLY compound in this class developed as a genuine drug through Phase 3 — and it FAILED. An honest counter-example: a well-designed peptide with a plausible mechanism that did not deliver in humans.
Comparison Notes
BPC-157 has the strongest animal signal (500+ studies). GHK-Cu has the best human evidence but only for topical use. Larazotide reached Phase 3 but failed. AOD-9604 is a fat-loss peptide that failed its Phase 2b trial — it is included because it is marketed in "recovery" stacks.
